Dead Law
from my "allegory" folder

A boy arrived, terrified, at the largest waterfall, and took his mother's hand as they approached the railing. The sound was a thunder, the ground shook, and the water burst over the cliff. Then the boy pulled a jar out of his pocket and stretched over to fill the jar with the water and quickly tightened the lid, before putting it back into his pocket.

Later, the mother asked the child if they enjoyed seeing the water fall. The child nodded and said, "I have a surprise gift for you." The he took the jar out and braced himself as he openned the lid. Immediately, he slid the jar away and held his ears. But the ground did not shake, and the sound was gone. The mother realized it was from the water fall, and asked if the boy was alright. "Yes," he said, "but I think that I killed it. The water is dead."

... and so are the commands, and teachings of the Bible if they are disconnected from the Source.
